Group Rules and Expectations:

  • Confidentiality: All information shared in group is confidential. This means that you may not discuss any identifying information, experiences shared, and/or the reactions of any member of this group with anyone outside of the group. Since the format of this group is online/telehealth, you are expected to be in a private, quiet space while attending the group.
  • Attendance: Group members are expected to make a commitment to attend group in its entirety. We understand that making this commitment can be challenging, but unfortunately cannot make up or change dates/times of the group to accommodate your absences. Attending groups on time is also expected. While we recognize life is often full of unexpected surprises and changes, you need to let us know of any attendance issues as soon as possible and preferably before any absence.
  • Etiquette: Discussions and conversation are expected to remain respectful and relevant. Screens are to be on throughout the duration of the group, though if you need to step away for any reason we ask that you message one of the group facilitators to keep us informed.
  • Participation: Group members are not required to share or disclose anything in which they are not willing to; however, we advocate that the more you share and engage, the more benefits you and your fellow group members can experience. We encourage you to share your feelings, your thoughts and your perspectives but ask that you do not share details of your story as it may have content that is triggering to others.
  • Process Group vs. Psychoeducation: This group is considered a psychoeducational group. If you are looking for a group that has a primary focus of working through and processing your trauma in a collective format, this group is not the appropriate space. Conversation and sharing about personal experiences is allowed, but limited, in this group setting.
  • Preparation: The expectation is to come prepared for group, having completed any exercise or reading prior to the scheduled date and time. Any materials that are in addition to the assigned workbook will be provided by the facilitators.
  • Contact Outside of Group: For the duration of this group process, a GroupMe chat will be started so that members and facilitators can engage in relevant conversation and provide support between groups.

Additional Information:

The workbook for this class can be purchased through Amazon or any other bookseller of your preference.

Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma by Janina Fisher (ISBN: 9781683733485).

Additional materials such as worksheets, infographics, and readings will be provided as needed by facilitators throughout the 6-weeks at no additional cost.

This group will include access to a facilitator-monitored GroupMe chat that members can join. The purpose of the group chat feature is to encourage questions, feedback, and support for the duration of the group. Participation in the group chat feature is optional.
